【歸納】more than 的用法比較復雜，它除了用于比較結構外，還可以與名詞、形容詞、動詞或從句等連用，表達不同的含義。下面是more than 結構的一些常見用法：

1）more than后直接接名詞.表示“不只是”；“不僅僅”等。例如：

Peace is more than the absence of war. 和平不只是意味著沒有戰爭。

2）more than 用來修飾形容詞、分詞和動詞，表示所修飾的詞份量不重或含義不夠, 而加以說明，譯成漢語可為“非常”，相當于“very”或“much”。例如：

He is more than selfish. 他非常自私。

3） more than 后接單數名詞，謂語動詞用單數。例如：

More than one person has been concerned in this. 這里涉及的不止是一個人。

4） more A than B 結構。用來比較兩種說法的正確程度，即前一種說法（A項）比后一種說法（B項）要正確一些，表示“與其……不如……”。在這個句型里，more 后不能用形容詞或副詞的比較級形式，而要用原級形式，此外還可用名詞、代詞、動詞、介詞短語等。例如：

① He is more good than bad.與其說他壞不如說他好。

② It is more a poem than a picture. 與其說這是一幅畫，不如說這是一首詩。
