IBM創建志愿者團隊以培育新興市場
首批的IBM志愿者已經完成了他們為期四周的海外任務,這是公司一項新的“企業全球服務志愿隊”(Corporate Service Corps)計劃框架的一部分,這個項目結合了“國際社區服務”和團隊領導力建設”兩項內容。在接下來的三年時間里,IBM將貢獻出時間和服務,折合價值約2.5億美元,大約600名員工,他們將在那些IBM希望有更大市場作為的國家開展這個為期一個月的項目,這些國家包括了羅馬尼亞、土耳其、加納、越南、菲律賓和坦桑尼亞。

根據紐約證券交易所(NYSE)和歐洲交易所(Euronext)2009年首席執行官報告——“在動蕩的經濟環境下實施管理”,在動蕩的經濟環境下,重新關注一份強有力的資產負債表、戰略可獲得性、運行效率、合理的管理實踐,以及吸引和留住最佳勞動力對于保持未來增長至關重要。美國和為非美國機構工作的CEO們,比例達到41%,都感覺企業社會責任最重要的是通過其機構確保所有的勞工實踐都符合道德。那些非基于美國的公司相信形成公司責任立場和政策是位于第二位重要的行動;而位于美國的公司支持發起和參與行業層面的規范行動以實現有道德的商業行為和實踐。

EEA報告:公路交通仍然是歐盟單一最大的空氣污染源
EurActiv 報道稱,盡管自1990年以來已經取得明顯改善,但轎車和卡車的排放始終是造成空氣污染危害健康的主要來源。根據歐盟環境機構(EEA)的一份報告,在歐盟-27中,公路交通仍然是單一最大的硫氧化物(Sox)、一氧化碳(CO)和非甲烷揮發性有機化合物(NMVOCs)的排放源。同時也是排在建筑和住宅部門之后第二重要的細微顆粒排放源,而此排放會引起呼吸系統疾病。其他主要的空氣污染來自制造業、建筑、住宅部門和農業。

IBM creates volunteer teams to cultivate emerging markets
The first IBM volunteers have completed their four*week assignments abroad in the framework of the companys new IBM Corporate Service Corps initiative which combines international community service and team leadership development in one programme. Over the next three years, IBM will donate the time and services – valued at about $250 million – of about 600 of its employees for monthlong projects in countries where it wants a bigger footprint. Among the countries are Romania, Turkey, Ghana, Vietnam, the Philippines and Tanzania.
Citi and Ashokas Changemakers seek financial solutions that promote social change
Citi and Ashoka, a global association of social entrepreneurs, have launched the Changemakers Competition “Banking on Social Change: Seeking Financial Solutions for All,” a worldwide search for financial service projects that use the transformative power of innovation and skills to achieve real economic and social change. The competition is designed to reach the worlds entrepreneurs and challenge them to use their talents and commitment to providing financial services for all.
NYSE Euronext report: CEOs see ethical labour practices as most important CSR task
A renewed focus on a strong balance sheet, strategic acquisitions, operational efficiency, sound management practices, as well as attracting and retaining the best workforce are the key to future growth during turbulent economic times, according to the NYSE Euronext 2009 CEO Report, “Managing During Economic Turbulence”. At 41%, most CEOs, both at US and non‐US‐based organisations, felt the most important corporate responsibility task is ensuring all labour practices are ethical across their organisation. Those based outside the US believed formalising corporate responsibility positions and policies to be the second most important action; US‐based organisations supported initiating or participating in industry‐level regulatory efforts to enforce ethical business behaviours and practices.

Road transport remains Europes single largest air polluter – EEA report
Despite marked improvements since 1990, emissions from cars and trucks continue to be the main source of health damaging air pollutants, EurActiv reports. According to a report by the European Environment Agency (EEA), road transport remains the single most important source of sulphur oxides (SOx), carbon monoxide (CO) and non methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOCs) in the EU 27. It is also the second most important source, behind the construction and residential sector, of fine particulate emissions which can cause respiratory diseases. Other main sources of air pollution were manufacturing industries and construction, the residential sector and agriculture.

沃爾瑪與中國的工會組織達成協議
沃爾瑪公司日前完成了與沈陽和泉州當地工會就員工工資方面的談判,并達成一致協議。談判在兩年前啟動,當時正值中國全國總工會(ACFTU)正式高調表示將工人們組織起來從而促進中國勞工運動的發展。協議保證沃爾瑪工人的工資在今年和明年將得到8%的增加,并且工人還將得到帶薪假期和加班工資。
用垃圾替代石油?
隨著美國的油價高企達到每加侖4美元,一項新產業——從垃圾中提取發動機燃料悄然顯現,而其首次的商業銷售也將在幾個月內實現。許多公司已經宣布了修建工廠的計劃,實現將木屑、垃圾或廢棄農作物等原材料轉變成發動機燃料的生產。有28家小型工廠已經處于前期計劃階段,它們或者在建造中或者已經進行測試運行階段。
航空工業公開綠色議程

廣東食品和醫藥公司創立企業社會責任框架
廣東的食品和醫藥公司正著手創立第一個地區企業責任標準,從而在中國全部省份推行。廣東食品和醫藥行業協會宣布將采用一套“廣東食品(醫藥)行業社會責任標準”框架,協會表示一旦獲得省級質量技術監督局的批準將立即進行起草。這個標準將在沒有SA8000標準的基礎上起草,將在道德行為領域略作改善,并集中在對員工利益的關注,對傳統中醫的保護,環境保護和節約能源消耗方面。

Wal-Mart Makes Deals with Chinese Unions
Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. has completed collective bargaining agreements with government-approved unions in Chinese provinces of Shenyang and Quanzhou. The move came less than two years after the official All China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) launched a high-profile campaign to organize workers and advance the development of Chinas labor movement. The agreements guarantee Wal-Mart workers an 8-percent pay rise this year and next and provide guarantees on paid leave and overtime.
A Trashy Alternative to Oil
With the cost of gasoline soaring above US$4 a gallon in the United States, a new industry selling motor fuel made from garbage is taking off — and the first commercial sales are possible within months. Many companies have announced plans to build plants that will turn materials such as wood chips, garbage or crop waste into motor fuels; 28 small plants are in advanced planning stages, under construction or already running in test mode.
Aviation Industry Unveils Green Agenda
The aviation industry showcased its new green agenda at the worlds biggest air show, as high oil prices, slowing economies and the European Unions recent decision to cap airlines greenhouse gas emissions by 2012 mount pressure on plane makers and airlines. “Its a matter of survival,” said Giovanni Bisignani, director general of the International Air Transport Association. Manufacturers bolstered their green credentials by playing down the importance of speed and lauding initiatives that reduce the environmental impact and the cost of flying.
Food and Pharmaceutical Companies Create CSR Framework in Guangdong
Food and pharmaceutical companies in Guangdong are preparing the first local corporate responsibility standards throughout the Chinese province. The Guangdong Food and Pharmaceutical Profession Association announced the adoption of the framework for the “Guangdong Food (Pharmaceutical) Industry Social Responsibility Standard,” saying it would be drafted once approved by the Provincial Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision. The standard, which will be based on the American SA8000, will slightly improve on areas of ethical behavior and will focus on employees interests, the protection of traditional Chinese medicine, environmental protection, and energy consumption.

A new report by Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) evaluates how companies can best equip their information, communications and technology (ICT) suppliers with the skills, knowledge and systems to take ownership of CSR issues. According to BSRs "Pilot Summary Report: Building Capabilities to Implement CSR Management Systems at ICT Suppliers in China," factory managers are most effective in addressing issues such as labor standards violations, environmental degradation, and poor health and safety protections.
