The opening ceremony of the photo exhibition Great Footprints---China Chapter in the Annals of Montargoise jointly sponsored by the CPAFFC, the Montargoise Agglomeration and the Montargoise France-China Friendship Association was held in the Friendship Museum of the CPAFFC on March 1, 2006. CPAFFC President Chen Haosu and Vice President Liu Zhiming, former Chinese Ambassador to France Cai Fangbo, President of the Montargoise Agglomeration and member of the French National Assembly Jean-Pierre Door, Minister Counsellor of the French Embassy in China Nicolas Chapuis, descendants of the older generation of the Chinese revolutionaries who took part in the work-study programme in France, among 130 Chinese and French representatives of various circles, attended the opening ceremony.
The photo exhibition Great Footprints displayed the life and the study of the older generation of Chinese revolutionaries including Cai Hesen, Deng Xiaoping and Chen Yi during their stay in France for work-study in the 1920s and beautiful scenery of the French ancient town Montargoise.
At the opening ceremony CPAFFC President Chen Haosu made a speech. He said, the movement of work-study in France has important historic significance for inspiring the youth to inherit and carry forward the patriotism of the older generation, to study hard and build the country. Montargoise City has set up a permanent site to commemorate the event and held exhibitions, helping the French and Chinese people to know more clearly about the long history of France-China friendly relations and to promote the relations to make a new development in the new century.
Mr. Door said, in the 1920s the Chinese ardent youth who came to Montargoise for work-study forged profound friendship with the French people. The people of Montargoise have set up a permanent site to preserve this precious historical period so as to ensure the younger generations not to forget history and deepen mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.
The delegation of the Montargoise Agglomeration meticulously duplicated 130 attendance cards left by the older generation of revolutionaries when they worked in the Hutchinson Rubber Factory, and presented them to the National Museum of China. Deputy Curator of the National Museum Jiang Fengyi, on behalf of the Museum, accepted the presents and expressed his thanks.
CPAFFC President Chen Haosu and Mr. Door cut the ribbon for the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
