My final farewell to Wang Weiwas on March 31,2001. Thememoriesarevivid. That afternoon, after finishinga day offlight missions,WangWei returned homeand toldme that he would be on duty at an outfield station the next day. He wouldn't beback until after his night shift. He had already been on flying duty for three consecutive days and hadn'treturned home for four days. That day, he madea special trip home on his bicycle to letme know and see me for a brief moment before heading back to the squadron dormitory to rest. Before he left,Ihugged him tightly,as lalways did during everyfarewell.Ithadbecomean unspoken routine between us. Whenever hewas heading out foraflight, lwould hughimasa way of bidding farewell, hoping forhissafereturn.Thatdayfelt different. For some reason, ljust wanted him to hold me a little longer, tighter.lwalked him all
thewaytotheentranceofthe apartmentbuildingandwatched ashe disappeared down the road, hisfigure fadinginthe distance. Thatwasthelasttimelsawhis back, and it'san imagelwill never forget for the rest ofmy life. The nextday,April1,WangWei made theultimate sacrifice overthe South China Sea while on combat duty.

It has been 24 years since Wang Wei passed away.Although he sacrificed his life, overall these years,l'vealwaysfeltthathe hasnever truly left me.Every yearonApril1,whenlsee the flowersand gifts from people acrossthe country laid infront ofWangWei'sgrave,Ifeel that thepeoplehavenotforgotten him.One particular\"gift\"lefta deep impression on me-it was amodel of theLiaoningaircraft carrier.Whenlsawthis, tears streamed downmyfacebecause WangWei's greatest wish in lifewastobecomeChina'sfirst generationofcarrier-based aircraftpilots.lbelieve thisis the best tribute to his spiritin heaven.

Ashiswife, lwanttowrite abookabouthim, bothasa commemorationandtoembark onabetter journey forward. Honoringheroes isaprofound waytopaytributetothem, toetch history deeply into ourmemories, and to look forward toabrighter future.2021marked the100th anniversary of the foundingof theCommunistParty ofChina. As aPartymember, lasked myself: WangWeisacrificedhislifefor the country-what shouldl,as his wife,do for this great nation? Wang Wei'sfighting spirit and hisdedication to the countryare legacies that must be passed down from generation to generation. I will work for the Party, always keeping my mission in mind. With an unwavering spirit,Iwill integrate knowledgeand action, tell the hero's story, mourn the hero, andcarryforwardthespirit of the hero.
WangWei once walked this earth.Inourgreatmotherland, helivedwithsincerity, passion, and happiness. What gave him the courage to step forward at acritical momentand sacrifice himselfwithouthesitation for thecountryandthepeoplewas the profound patriotism rooted deep in hisheart.Thisis the great spiritof the Chinese nation, and itisalso theinnatesenseof conscience thatlieswithineach andeveryoneofus.Once this conscience isawakened, young people fromallwalksof life can rise to become heroes, just like Wang Wei.
Every yearon April1,when people call out \"81192 ,please return,\" they are not just calling for Wang Wei,but calling for the heroic spirit of theentire Chinese nation. IfWang Wei could see the commissioning of the Liaoning and Shandongaircraft carriers, if he could witness Chinese astronauts carrying out missions aboard our own space station, if he could see the border guards making the same fearless choice he once made in the skies over the South China Sea,and see the medical workers bravely marchinginto danger to fight the pandemic,he would surely feel a deep sense of pride and comfort. Wang Wei is not alone. During his lifetime, he was surrounded bythewarmthof familyand comrades, leadinga fulfillingand happy life.At the critical moment of his life,he gave up his life and tenaciously resisted the enemy,a continuation of the spirit carried by countless revolutionary martyrs.Ibelievethaton the great journey of the Chinese nation'srise, moreandmore heroes will emerge.Wang Wei's 81192 will forever be a fighter jet that never lands, always watching over the motherland and protecting the Chinese people.
