課文語法填空

Growing up in England with a British father and a Chinese mother, I 1 (enjoy) food from both countries ever since I was able to hold a knife and fork—and chopsticks.

Mum often cooks spicy dishes. Thanks 2 this, Dad has come to love hot pot! However, there are still some 3 (dish) that Dad dare not try even after many years of 4 (marry) to my mother. Even today, he still does not easily take to 5 (eat) things like chicken feet. But I enjoy that sort of food 6 (I).

Dad can cook 7 super “full English breakfast” of bacon, eggs, beans, sausages and toast with butter. He also does a typical Sunday roast. We all love roast beef and vegetables, 8 Mum advises us not to eat too much roast food.

When I first visited China, Mum encouraged me 9 (try) different kinds of food and I did. I loved everything.

People say that one man’s meat is another man’s poison, but I feel at home with food from both my cultures. To me, there’s nothing 10 (good) than a cross-cultural afternoon tea of English biscuits and a cup of Chinese oolong tea in a fine china cup!

閱讀理解

My friends and I were hanging out in Chinatown on a Saturday morning and followed a group of locals. We walked into a dim sum restaurant and found the host stand. No menu needed, we had been famished. I felt like I could eat a horse. Before being seated, I was nearly bowled over by carts (推車) a few times. We were taken to a big round table and were served with hot tea at once.

One of the carts that nearly hit me was pulled up beside us, and a Cantonese lady moved to the different round bamboo steamer baskets (蒸籠). We looked wide-eyed and waited for her to tell us more about each dish, but that moment never came. She didn’t speak English, and none of us knew Cantonese.

So we ended up with a few recognizable treats: steamed pork buns, egg custard tarts, shumai (a type of traditional Chinese dumpling) and turnip cakes. To the left, someone tasted steamed dumplings, and to the right, someone’s face was scrunching up (皺成一團(tuán)) after tasting chicken feet. When I say I fell in love with shumai, please know that I fell hard. I had to order some more because the dumplings were too good to get lost in the crowd of bites.

While the small plates made me half-wish I’d gotten twice the food, the feeling was so wonderful. Something about sharing dishes while sharing stories and laughs really made friends feel closer, and the meal being more enjoyable meant eating to the sounds of happiness rather than in terrible silence. Experiencing the whole tradition of tea and mouth-watering dishes really made me understand a culture that sees food as a means of bonding (聯(lián)系). While the restaurant was exciting, we left feeling calmer and closer.

Between school, homework, sports, your after-school job, and hanging out with friends, it may feel like there’s no time for healthy eating. And when you have time, you may simply eat snacks like potato chips. 1 In fact, if you have a busy schedule, it’s even more important to eat healthy foods that give you the energy you need to keep going.

2 For example, you may feel hungry in a long afternoon of classes or during your swim meet. Knowing how much food your body needs to satisfy this hunger is important. A few walnuts (核桃) are great brain food before sitting down to do your math homework. 3

Healthy snacking is important to you. During teenage years, the body needs more nutrients (營養(yǎng)物) to grow. Snacks are a great way to satisfy your hunger and get all nutrients your body needs." " " 4 Do not eat foods with lots of added sugars like candy bars or soda. That’s because eating these foods may help you stop feeling hungry for a moment, but they are bad for your health in the long term.

Choosing healthy snacks means shopping wisely. 5 We may find “all natural” on the side of a package but it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s nutritious. For example, “all natural” juice drinks can be filled with sugar, which means they’ll make you fat easily and give you little nutrition.

A. It’s natural to feel hungry at certain times.

B. Healthy snacking doesn’t have to be boring.

C. But you need to pay attention to what you eat.

D. If you’re really feeling hungry, pay attention to it.

E. But it is possible to treat yourself to a healthy snack.

F. But a whole bag only makes you put on weight easily.

G. Be careful of the health information on food packages.
