Our town is going to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival this coming Thursday and I'm writing to invite you to be part of this event.

The festival, in memory of a great poet named Qu Yuan in ancient China, is one of the most significant traditional festivals. It falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, when there are a wide range of activities around China.

This coming Thursday, we will make zongzi together. Eating zongzi, boiled rice wrapped by bamboo leaves, is what you can't miss. Then follows the dragon boat race, a most exciting water sport, which will offer us a chance to cheer for teams racing towards victory.

Last year, I spent the Spring Festival with my host family,which left a strong impression on me. The Spring Festival falls on the first day of the first lunar month.Colourful lanterns were hung at the gate and couplets were pasted on the door.

On the eve of the new year, people went back to their hometown from everywhere no matter how far the distance was for the big family reunion dinner. After the meal,we watched TV until the clock struck twelve.

The experience not only made me understand traditional Chinese culture much better, but also let me feel the unique beauty of it,so I will value it forever.
