The Beijing Initiative of the Global Trade and Investment Promotion Summit Was Released

On May 18， at the Conf- erence Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the China Council for the promotion of international trade and the global trade and investment promotion summit， the CCPIT and representatives of trade promotion institutions and business circles from 59 countries and regions reached a broad consensus and formed the Beijing Initiative of the global trade and investment promotion summit.

The Initiative calls for safeguarding and promoting global solidarity and cooperation， opposing the politicization of the pandemic， further boosting confidence and resolve to overcome the pandemic， comprehensively deepening cooperation in the field of health， ensuring that developing countries can access global public goods in a fair， rapid， united and affordable manner， and making positive efforts to bridge the “immunization gap” and protecting life and health. The Initiative includes six aspects：

First， jointly address the challenges of the pandemic. At present， COVID-19 is still spreading globally and the situation for its prevention and control remains grim. We call on the global business community to maintain and promote global solidarity and cooperation， oppose the politicization of the pandemic， further boost confidence and determination to fight COVID-19， comprehensively deepen cooperation in the health sector， actively carry out cooperation in research and development of drugs， jointly promote the fair distribution and smooth trade of vaccines and other essential medical supplies across the globe.

Second， promote the stability and recovery of the world economy. At present， global economic recovery remains fragile and weak. Global industrial and supply chains are disrupted. Unilateral and protectionist practices are rampant. The risks of inflation driven by multiple factors are surfacing globally. These risks compound one another and heighten the uncertainty about economic recovery. We call on the global business community to work together to practice true multilateralism， jointly safeguard the multilateral trading system with the World Trade Organization as its core， make economic globalization more open， inclusive， balanced and beneficial for all； to push for strengthened policy coordination among governments， promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation， keep industrial and supply chains safe， stable and smooth.

Third， join forces to bridge the development divide. At present， the process of global development is suffering from severe disruption， entailing more outstanding problems like a widening North-South gap， divergent recovery trajectories， development fault-lines and a technological divide. We call on the global business community to actively promote global development， pool the strength of the business community， strive to tackle above-mentioned problems， promote balanced development of the world， and let people of all countries share the benefits of economic globalization and world economic growth.

Fourth， actively promote innovation. Innovation is an important driving force that propels world development and a powerful tool to tackle the common challenges facing mankind. We call on the global business community to stick to the innovationdriven approach， deepen exchanges and cooperation， accelerate technological innovation， increase investment in R&D， strengthen the implementation of research and sharing of its findings.

Fifth， promote green， lowcarbon and sustainable development. In recent years， climate change， loss of biodiversity， increasing desertification， and frequent extreme weather events have posed serious challenges to human survival and development. Global environmental governance is facing unprecedented difficulties. We call on the global business community to act swiftly， pool wisdom， contribute to the green upgrading of economic， energy and industrial structures， develop a circular economy， promote a new pattern of harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature， and make a good ecological environment a support for sustainable global economic and social development.

Sixth， we welcome the joining of this initiative by the business communities from more countries to uphold the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind， join hands and never slacken in efforts to build greater synergy through win-win cooperation， overcome the various challenges along the way and usher in a brighter and better future for humanity.
