National parks help protect the environment.The world's first national park,Yellowstone, was created by an act of Congress in 1872 as a “pleasuring ground for the benefit and enjoyment of the people in order to protect for all time this outstanding natural area”.

National parks play an important role in promoting physical and mental health.Visitors to national parks spend their time outside actively, which can build up their body, protect against many diseases and help reduce weight gain.Moreover, walking is effective in reducing anxiety and depression.Being in nature has a calming effect on the mind and reduces the heart rate and blood pressure.
