上大學后,我的運動細胞“覺醒”了
我以前很排斥體育課。所謂體育課,無非就是先集體跑步十分鐘熱身,再自由活動——通常男生會去打籃球,女生則聚在操場一角聊天。以前,家長們也更喜歡不怎么愛運動的孩子,在他們眼里,那是乖巧聽話的表現。所以身為女生,蹦蹦跳跳對我來說有一種羞恥感。直到在大學的體育課上,我發現自己的耐力居然還不錯,并愛上了長跑和游泳,感覺自己身體里的運動細胞突然就“覺醒”了。因為常運動,我還變得更加自信、挺拔了。雖然偶爾還是會為小時候的自己感到一絲惋惜,但更慶幸現在的自己愛上了運動。現在很多家長也越來越重視運動和健康了,我認為這是非常大的進步。每個孩子都需要奔跑、跳躍,希望大家都能在這個過程中探索自己的身體潛能,更好地認識自己。

我進行運動其實是為了減肥,但是在一個受限制的空間里,做一些重復的動作,對我來說很難熬,健身房那些正兒八經的運動也不太能激起我的興趣。相比之下,戶外活動有趣多了。比起對專業性的要求,我更重視堅持,希望將運動變成生活的一部分,就像吃飯、睡覺一樣自然。
我現在常做的運動是騎車和戶外晨跑。騎著車,在城市里漫無目的地穿梭,觀察街道、小店,周圍景象快速變換,很有意思,像在看電影。跑步時,迎著風,流的汗很快被吹干,心中不自覺會生出愉悅感,而且我還可以放任思緒,思考很多東西。即便當天很煩悶,心情也會隨著運動變得輕快。

hold my job. I’ve struggled with depression in the pastfew years but was lucky to have a part time job thatwasn’t demanding. A few months ago, I got a new jobthat pays much better but requires a huge amount ofwork. Also, I’ve been off antidepressants for a yearand currently have no access to psychotherapy. Butabout eight months ago, I started bike riding threetimes a week and it has helped me keep my spirits andstamina up a lot! Plus, I don’t get winded going upstairs anymore. There’s been a couple of times that theworkload has been so heavy that I neglected my bikerides for a couple of weeks——whenever I did have thetime I just wanted to relax instead. And I’ve noticedthat towards the end of these periods my depressivesymptoms are comingback, I’m less happy andless hopeful about work.When this spurs me to maketime for biking again, the symptomssoon go away!

I have three online jobs and I get very stressedout. Being able to go to the gym for an hour during theday allows me to completely forget about everythingand sweat out all my worries. Exercise has given meso much more energy. It has helped me be able to focusbetter on myself and my goals. When I work out, I canzone into my body and mind and I feel more centered. Idon’t feel like falling asleep in days anymore, plus I’vefound that I don’t need to eat much food so long as I’mactive. I exercise in the morning, before any excusescome up as to why I shouldn’t. Now I can run faster andfor longer and I can do pushups. I have more energyto play with my dogs, too. I’ve even found myself moreinspired than ever before! Because of that change I’vemade in my life I feel like I can do anything else if I putmy mind to. I can take pride in my day and havesomething to look forward to. It shows me thatI can change my habits and grow to beone of the people who I have envied.
