Vincent Van Gogh was one of the great masters of painting （繪畫）. But he was poor most of his life. He made hundreds of paintings. But he only sold one of them.

Van Gogh was born in the Netherlands. He later lived in England. and then France. He enjoyed drawing when he was a child. Then he became an artist when he grew up. His style changed over time. Van Gogh used many different colors and painting styles.

He enjoyed painting people， farms， flowers， and other natural things. He used strong yellows， greens and blues to express his strong feelings. Many paintings of this period（時期） reflected his own moods. Two of his famous paintings are The Potato Eaters and The Starry Night.

These days， Van Gogh's art sells for millions of dollars. Museums around the world show paintings by the great artist.
