Abstract:In the process of tourism English translation,cross-cultural awareness is a very practical translation idea,which can greatly promote the efficiency and effect of tourism English translation. Based on the actual experience of tourism translation,this article analyzes the impact of cross-cultural awareness in tourism English translation and briefly explains the problems in tourism English translation,and proposes highly practical tourism English translation strategies and methods.

1.A cross-cultural awareness

The so-called cross-cultural awareness refers to the exchanges and contacts between individuals or groups of different nationalities and culturally influenced. In layman's terms,it is the specific thinking that people of different cultural backgrounds have in the process of communication,or national cultural thinking. Human communication is carried out through language. Whether you have cross-cultural awareness and mastery of cross-cultural communication skills plays an extremely important role in the transfer of culture between countries.

2.The impact of cultural differences on tourism translation

Different countries have different cultural backgrounds and cultural differences,and people from different countries have very different thinking and language expressions. China has five thousand years of cultural history and unique regional culture and customs. In the process of translation of my countrys tourist attractions and regional characteristics,due to cultural differences,some tourism translation obstacles will inevitably appear. The translation of historical allusions and cultural origins must be carefully considered and re-examined,otherwise it will be difficult for foreign tourists to fully understand the relevant information of tourist attractions. There is an old saying:"You are not a good man if you do not reach the Great Wall." The Great Wall is a historical and cultural heritage created by the ancient Chinese people,and it is also a monument in the history of human civilization. If foreigners do not understand the history and culture of the Great Wall,it is easy to erroneously translate the Great Wall as "The Long Wall". But the Great Wall is called one of the Seven Wonders of the World because of its majestic momentum,magnificent scale,arduous engineering and prevention significance in the world. It combines the wisdom,will,perseverance and endurance of the ancients. Therefore,"the Great Wall" can make foreigners feel the great wall.

3.Three Strategies and Methods in Tourism English Translation

3.1 Transliteration and free translation are appropriately combined in tourism English translation

Special attention should be paid to the combination of transliteration and free translation. It is difficult to better interpret and convey culture by using a single translation method. The so-called transliteration is based on the pronunciation of the foreign language using similar-sounding words and words in the target language to express;free translation is translation based on the equivalent of meaning. For example,the Bai Ma Temple in Luoyang,Henan Province,is known as "China's First Ancient Temple". For "White Horse Temple",it can be translated as "Bai Ma Temple". Another example is Mount Emei,one of the four famous Buddhist mountains in China,translated as "EMei Mountain";"Tian'anmen Square" is translated as "Tian'anmen Square";"Qin Shihuang Terracotta Warriors and Horses" is translated as "QinTerra—Cotta Warriors and Horses Gigurines";For example,"Humble Administrator's Garden" can be translated as "Garden of Humble Administrator" and "Zhuo zheng Garden". The former is a free translation and the latter is a transliteration. Therefore,the two can be integrated together when translating,and translated into "Zhuo zheng Garden" or "Garden of Humble Administrator",so that not only the name of the scenic spot can be accurately translated,but also the historical background of the area can be expressed. The combination of free translation and transliteration is the most popular translation method at home and abroad[1].

3.2 Appropriate interpretation of translation

Many tourist attractions in China have a long cultural background and historical background. It is difficult for foreigners to directly understand the translated literal. We need to provide a certain literal translation,the purpose is to make foreign tourists more in-depth and better. Learn more about China's tourist attractions and customs. For example,Hangzhous "Three Pools Mirroring the Moon" is translated as "Three Pools Mirroring the Moon",but the cultural history of this place cannot be understood more deeply. Therefore,the translation needs to be properly interpreted as "The three stone towers were first built in Yuanyou 4th year"(1089)of the Song Dynasty,with the wonderful scenery of one moon in the sky having three reflection in the lake,it is one of the wonderful scenes of the West Lake in Hangzhou." Another example,"Huanglong",is located in Sichuan Province In Songpan County,Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture,the direct translation of "Huanglong" or "Yellow Dragon" will make foreign tourists confused,let alone the world-famous "color pools,snow-capped mountains,canyons,and forests" in this scenic spot. Therefore,we need to explain to the scenic spot "The Huanglong Scenic Area is located in Songpan County,Sichuan Province. Calcified ponds,beaches,waterfalls and embankments characterize Huanglong scenery." In this way,we can better convey our country's tourism culture to foreign tourists[2].

3.3 Translation can be adapted appropriately

Chinese is not only rich,but also contains many rhetorical methods,as well as some difficult to understand classical Chinese and four-character idioms. In the process of translation,if you simply blindly pursue literal confrontation,it will not only cause great difficulty in translation,but also make it very difficult to translate. It may be self-defeating and undermine the expression of willingness. Therefore,in translation,some appropriate modifications can be made to achieve the best translation effect. The beauty of the West Lake has always been the object of literati and inkmen. Yang Wanli's "After all,the West Lake in mid-June,the scenery is not the same as the four o'clock. The lotus leaves in the sky are infinitely green,and the lotus flowers in the sun are red." It really makes people feel through words[3]. In June,the beautiful scenery of West Lake is "not the same as the four seasons". Literally translated as "Afterall,West Lake in June,the scenery is not the same with four,green then endless days of lotus leaves,Lotus flowers in red." Obviously,the beauty of the scenic spots in the poem cannot be described to the fullest,so,Need to be adapted appropriately in the translation process,translated as "The West Lake in June,when all is said and done. For all the seasons never the same is the scene. The lotus leaves touching the sky in boundless green. The" lotus flowers specially red in shining sun .''

4.Conclusion

In the process of tourism English translation,due to differences in cultural characteristics and historical backgrounds,translation errors will occur to a certain extent,which will affect the accuracy of translation,and even fail to convey the meaning of tourist attractions to foreign tourists. This is particularly necessary in translation In the process of integrating people's cross-cultural awareness,examining and thinking about the cultural background and connotation of tourism from a cross-cultural perspective,only in this way can the two cultures and languages in the tourism context be better freely converted,and the best translation can be achieved. purpose.
