

For the coming 70th Anniversary of New China, an international visual art feast was launched in the National Art Museum of China. The theme “A Colorful World and a Shared Future”is very suitable for the unique feature of the Biennale: various participants, numerous artists, huge amount of artworks with innovations, international and national characteristics. It fits perfectly with the grand theme of a community with a shared future for mankind.
This years Biennale broke its record on the number of participating countries, which indicates a greater international influence of this event. It showed a fact that after 40 years of opening up and reform, Chinese artists were mingling into the world, and took their fair share of building the global contemporary art system. Chinese artists became a member instead of a witness. On the other hand, the foreign artistspaintings or sculptures present marvelous wisdom and techniques. Their review and thought on their nation history, identities, or on the entire human history, always brought deep speculation and universal resonance.
The China mode of the Biennale sticks to the principle of taking painting and sculpture as the core. Contemporary painting and sculpture are not obsolete due to the emerging new art forms, but still have rich resources and massive creative teams in China and the world. The Biennale was called the China fulcrum for the contemporary international painting and sculpture. The academic exchange symposium of the Biennale focuses on the eco-balance of the global art world, emphasizing on the pursuit of peace, civilization and fairness. The Biennale also has another important mission: to advance the art coordination in the global scale. The Biennale encouraged many great artists with respect to participate from the third world countries who have few opportunities to attend significant international exhibitions.
At this great time of nation-wide celebration, the Biennale is the international gift from the global art world to the 70 years old nation. It is a new chapter depicting a harmonious co-existence, sincere dialogue, and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign artists.

在全國各族人民喜迎祖國70周年華誕、共享偉大榮光的美好氛圍里,一場全球美術家積極參與的國際視覺藝術盛宴隆重登陸中國美術館,拉開了今年國慶藝術獻禮的宏大序幕。2019年8月30日至9月20日,由中國文學藝術界聯合會、北京市人民政府和中國美術家協會共同主辦,以“多彩世界與共同命運”為主題的第八屆中國北京國際美術雙年展在北京中國美術館如期舉辦。
本屆“多彩世界與共同命運”的展覽主題,非常適合北京雙年展獨有的特性:參與國家多、參展藝術家多、作品體量大、展示空間整體統一,創新性、當下性、國際性、民族性兼備,其他不是全球規模的展覽項目很難跟“構建人類命運共同體”這樣的關于人類、關乎世界的大命題即時完美對接,主題適合發揮北京雙年展特性的同時,又很適合各國藝術家進行主題創作。在尊重藝術創作規律的前提下,通過藝術創作的方式助力全球治理,以視覺藝術的形式“發出”中國聲音、展現中國方案、再現中國擔當、整合國際語匯,是本屆北京雙年展需要解決的命題考卷。
“多彩世界”是指世界文明多樣性,“共同命運”是指人類命運共同體。在古代,圣經故事的“諾亞方舟”與中國成語的“同舟共濟”,都蘊涵著人類命運休戚與共、共渡危難的寓意。在當今全球化的時代,世界各國人類的命運比以往更加緊密地聯系在一起,冷戰思維與零和博弈早已過時,單邊主義讓位給多極主義。盡管國際形勢紛繁……
