Research on the Application of Humanism in College English Teaching

摘 要：In view of its application in college English teaching， this paper puts forward some corresponding application points and precautions， in order to provide a reliable reference for further improving the English teaching level in colleges and universities in China.

I. Overview of humanism

Humanism is a kind of action ideology in the 14th-16th century European Renaissance. The ideology emphasizes the concern for human personality， that is， advocates the dignity of human beings against violence and discrimination， and advocates freedom and equality and self-worth. .

（1） Application principles

In order to speed up the integration of English teaching and humanism in colleges and universities， and to cultivate the overall quality and humanistic spirit of college students， relevant teachers must follow the following principles to infiltrate the concept of humanism： First， we must ensure the content of English textbooks and the actual situation of contemporary college students. Life is connected so that students can better use English for interpersonal communication and solve practical problems in their daily life. Secondly， they should respect the personality characteristics of college students and use the teaching language of encouragement and positive energy to carry out English teaching activities. On the basis of feeling the teacher's humanistic feelings， students will form a good learning consciousness and self-confidence， and then achieve their corresponding learning goals through their own efforts.

Nowadays， the continuous updating of the knowledge system structure has created favorable conditions for the comprehensive development of college students. Although it has formed a good logical thinking and innovation consciousness in this environment， its ability in humanities knowledge is slightly more obvious. Insufficient， can be reflected in the English teaching work of colleges and universities.

Conducive to the improvement of college English courses

Although at this stage， most colleges and universities in China will design and arrange the English subject as the main course content， but the teaching effect obtained is much worse than the expected goal. The reason is mainly because the English teaching content of colleges and universities is more complicated， and it will involve many other subject areas， such as politics， language， etc.， and also requires a large amount of translation training or reading training for students to fully grasp.
