一家荷蘭公司計劃在2024年將一名孕婦送往太空。孕婦將在太空站完成分娩。產婦和新生兒需要沖破大氣的重重阻力，再回到地球，并在降落傘的保護下著陸到沙漠。該計劃的目的在于通過人類在太空分娩的成功案例，探索未來人類在其他星球繁衍生息的可能性。2024年的太空分娩計劃對新生兒只是一小步，對整個人類卻是一大步。

A Dutch company called SpaceLife Origin wants to send a pregnant1 woman 250 miles above the Earth to give birth2 and make history， in the name of science.

If our planet becomes uninhabitable（不適合居住的） for human life， we will have to leave and settle in other places. In order to make this goal a success， we first should learn how to reproduce3 in space. It sounds like a crazy idea， but SpaceLife Origin believes that our long-term future depends on it.

According to Egbert， a manager in SpaceLife Origin， learning how to give birth in space is an insurance4 policy for humans. Even if we do discover or build a suitable place away from Earth， we must first find out the secrets of space birth. To do that， SpaceLife Origin plans to organize a series of experiments5 over the next five years， with the most important one – an actual human birth in space – scheduled6 for 2024.

Getting the pregnant woman into space just before shes ready to deliver7 the baby sounds difficult enough， but its the safety of the baby and the childbirth itself that SpaceLife Origin is worried about. SpaceLife Origin acknowledges8 that its plan still has many unknowns9， but thats the main reason for this mission10， to find answers.

一家名為“太空生命起源”的荷蘭企業，計劃以科學的名義將一名孕婦送到距離地球250英里（約402公里）的高空，生下歷史上第一個“天外寶寶”。

如果地球無法再讓人類生存，我們將不得不離開地球，移居他處。為了讓這個計劃成功，我們首先要學會如何在太空繁衍后代。這聽起來很瘋狂，不過，“太空生命起源”公司認為，人類的長遠生存之計有賴于這個計劃。

這家荷蘭企業的管理者埃格伯特說，學習如何在太空生孩子對人類而言是一種保險策略。即使我們在遠離地球之處發現或建造了宜居的住所，我們也要先揭開太空生育的秘密。為此，“太空生命起源”公司計劃在未來5年內組織一系列實驗，其中真人在太空分娩這項尤為重要，計劃安排在2024年。

在孕婦分娩前將其送入太空本就已經夠困難了，何況還有孩子和分娩過程的安全問題讓公司操心。公司承認，計劃仍有很多未知數，但這也是任務的主要目的——尋找答案。
