牛奶？當然！奶酪？絕對啊！

A fourth of Dutch land is used to grow grass and feed cattle. There are over 1.6 million dairy1 cows in the Netherlands， which makes up 10 percent of its population.

People say， “Dairy helps people grow tall”， and Dutch people are the best proof2. In the Netherlands， there are all kinds of dairy products in peoples lives. Dairy is the most important food for Dutch people， and important in the Dutch economy. Dutch people drink milk in the morning， with lunch and enjoy thick chocolate milk after dinner. The Netherlands is the only country where people drink milk for breakfast and lunch.

As for cheese， they eat it alone， they add it to sandwiches， they fry it， and they have it with pancakes… Cheese is a popular breakfast item.In the morning， Dutch people would rather have cheese than cereal3 or other hot food. A tasty cheese sandwich and a glass of milk is a Dutch persons best friend.

In the Netherlands， there are so many different varieties of cheese. They come in different sizes， ages and flavors. Its difficult to choose. For dairy lovers， the Netherlands is the best place to go.

And Dutchs favorite？ It has to be delicious Dutch pancakes. They can be savory4， with bacon， salmon， cheese， or all of them together. They can also be sweet， with apples， raisins5， chocolate， syrup6 and nuts. And of course， pancakes are made with a lot of milk too！

No one can really say if it is true or not that dairy makes the Dutch tall， but the fact is they do eat a lot of dairy products， and they are tall.

No wonder the Netherlands is called “the land of dairy”.

荷蘭四分之一的國土都用來種草喂牛了。荷蘭有160多萬頭奶牛，占總人口的10%。

荷蘭人最愛的食物是什么？非美味的荷蘭薄餅莫屬。薄餅可咸，和培根、三文魚、奶酪搭配，或者全部一起吃；薄餅可甜，加蘋果、葡萄干、巧克力、糖漿和堅果一起吃。當然，薄餅也是用很多牛奶做成的。

沒人能確定荷蘭人是不是因為吃奶制品而長得高大，但他們確實吃很多奶制品，而且的確身材很高大。

難怪，荷蘭被稱作“奶制品王國”。

Tip

be used to：短語be used to do表示“被用來做某事”。如：Wood is often used to make desks and chairs. 木頭常被用來制作桌椅。

used to do…意思是“過去常常做……”，表示過去的習慣性動作，過去如此，現在不再這樣了。如：1）Go with it， talk about what you used to do and what things used to be like. 行動起來，找機會和他（她）談談你過去干些什么， 那時情況如何。 2）I used to go to bed late， but now I dont .我以前經常很晚才睡覺，現在不這樣了。

be used to doing...意思是“習慣做……”。如：She is not used to eating Chinese food. 她不習慣吃中餐。
