看美版《甄嬛傳》，賞地道英語

鄭曉龍導演的電視劇作品《甄繯傳》自2011年上映以來，掀起了一股全國性的清宮劇熱潮。該劇憑借扣人心弦的劇情、精湛感人的演技、精美絕倫的服裝道具，尤其是極其考究的人物對白贏得了一片好評，被公認為難得一見的良心好劇。上映至今，其經典形象和經典臺詞仍然被廣大劇迷津津樂道。《甄繯傳》在國內市場的巨大成功最終吸引了國外電視人的注意，經過好萊塢著名制作人操刀剪輯，又經歷了字幕翻譯、補拍等一系列工作，2015年《甄繯傳》正式登陸美國，在Netf l ix上面向全美播出。雖然由于大量刪減、文化差異等原因，美版《甄繯傳》在美國并沒有掀起收視高潮，但這六集的電視劇中包含了近六百分鐘對白的英語字幕，雖不能說每一句臺詞的翻譯都堪稱完美，但它為大量漢語詩詞、成語俗語、文化負載詞以及日常口語表達的英譯提供了很好的參考范例。

漢語博大精深，許多流傳千百年的俗語、習語、詩詞名句等表達蘊含了濃濃的文化特色，借用各種意象和隱喻，既能夠傳遞出說話者準確的意思和微妙的情感，又朗朗上口，獨具韻味。許多英語學習者關注漢英翻譯，希望能將漢語的文化之美傳遞給全世界，但面對語言和文化上的巨大差異又常常感到力不從心。以下筆者分享一些出自美版《甄繯傳》官方字幕的漢語俗語、習語以及詩詞名句的英譯版本，雖不是唯一譯法，也并非盡善盡美，卻也值得借鑒和賞析：

1. 年年歲歲花相似，歲歲年年人不同。

Each year and every year, the blossoms return anew.Each year and every year, the bloom of youth does not.

2. 愿得一人心，白首不相離。

To capture the heart of my fated lover and cling together till our hair turns gray.

3. 但愿人長久，千里共嬋娟。

Yearning for a life long in years, we share the same moonlight even a thousand miles apart.

4. 知錯能改，善莫大焉。

A fault confessed is half redressed.

5. 兔子急了也會咬人。

A baited cat grows as fi erce as a lion.

6. 做賊心虛。

Even rats will abandon a sinking ship.

9. 關心則亂。

Concern will cause confusion.

A tiger cub cannot be caught without entering the tiger's lair.

英語和漢語分屬不同語系，其語法體系、詞匯的義項搭配、文化內涵等都迥然不同，即使是非常努力的學習者，單詞背了一籮筐，仍然覺得很多漢語中非常順口地道的表達在英語當中很難找到相對應的翻譯，而生硬的字字對譯又容易產生不地道的中式英語。美版《甄繯傳》的英譯字幕中，同樣包含了很多漢語日常表達的英文說法，對于使用英語時需要在大腦中進行漢英翻譯的大多數英語學習者來說有很大幫助。以下分享部分例句：

1. 你不得好死！

Fate will bring you to a miserable end.

2. 她太不知收斂了。

She appears not to know her limits.

3. 我冤枉她了。

I had wronged her.

4. 她的孩子克死了我的孩子！

It was her pregnancy that claimed the life of my child!

5. 只要是敢跟我爭寵的女人就都得死。

All women who dare vie with me for His Majesty's favor must die.

6. 若說日久生情也是難怪。

It is no surprise if proximity breeds fondness.

7. 的確是朕太過垂憐你了。

I have pampered you indeed.

8. 切記要告訴眉姐姐，千萬不要得罪了皇后與安陵容。

Be sure to tell Mei not to fall afoul of the Empress and An Lingrong.

《甄繯傳》之所以在國內大受追捧，臺詞考究是很重要的一個原因。比起當下很多穿著古裝，卻滿口網絡流行語的電視劇，這部劇的臺詞一方面由于接近古代漢語的表達習慣，更容易將觀眾帶入歷史時空當中，但另一方面卻也讓美版電視劇的臺詞翻譯更具挑戰性。以下選取了部分明顯帶有古代漢語特點的臺詞，其英譯版本在準確傳遞源語言所包含信息的基礎上，盡量使用精煉、正式的詞句，以模仿古代漢語表達所特有的節奏感。英漢表達雖不能完全對應，讀起來卻也別有一番味道：

1. 參見皇上。

I bow in respect before Your Majesty.

2. 皇上萬福金安。

Your Majesty, may blessings and peace be with you.

3. 臣妾要告發熹貴妃私通，穢亂后宮，罪不容誅。

I accuse Noble Consort Xi of inf i delity, a stain upon the Imperial Harem not even death can atone for.

4. 祺貴人，瓜爾佳氏，危言聳聽，攪亂后宮，打入冷宮。康常在、貞嬪，捕風捉影，以訛傳訛，罰俸六個月。

6. 皇后，烏拉那拉氏，天命不佑，華而不實，殘害皇嗣，朋扇朝堂，焉得敬承宗廟，母儀天下？著廢為庶人，冷宮安置。

The Empress, descended from the Ula Nara clan,has not been blessed by heaven, and is utterly deceitful.She harmed imperial heirs and conspired with imperial off i cials. She is unsuitable to be a member of the royal family, a model mother to the nation. Thus, she will be demoted to the status of a commoner and sent to the Cold Palace.

作為一部古裝劇，《甄繯傳》的對白中包含了大量清朝宮廷語境下專用的詞匯及表達。這些表達根植于中國的歷史文化，從翻譯的角度來看，很多屬于文化空缺詞，根本沒有對應的英語表達。在上面分享的三類對白的翻譯賞析中，這個問題已經相當明顯。以劇中人物的稱呼和頭銜為例，中國古代封建社會中，尤其是皇家，尊卑有別，等級森嚴，不同身份的人的頭銜和稱呼都有所區別。皇帝自稱“朕”，高階的嬪妃自稱“本宮”或“臣妾”，下人自稱“奴婢”或“奴才”，皇帝的妻妾之間一般以姐妹相稱，以凸顯親疏關系。皇帝高高在上，坐擁后宮佳麗三千，這些皇帝的女人們，僅以清朝為例，就有皇后、皇貴妃、貴妃、妃、嬪、貴人、常在、答應等一系列頭銜。后宮的女人們為了爭寵，為了得到更高的位分而相愛相殺的故事是清宮劇的核心，而這種稱呼和頭銜上的差別，由于文化差異，很難在英語表達中得到同樣的體現，很多微妙的人物關系被“你”“我”這樣的普通人稱代詞一帶而過。皇帝的女人們鉤心斗角，一步一步向上爬的艱辛也淹沒在對后宮嬪妃頭銜的生硬翻譯里，如華妃是Consort Hua（配偶華），莞嬪是Concubine Wan（小妾莞），常在和答應變成了First Attendant（第一服務員）和Second Attendant（第二服務員），這樣的翻譯著實讓人有些摸不著頭腦。

總體而言，美版《甄繯傳》既有驚喜，也有遺憾，但無論如何，這部劇的字幕翻譯為我們學習英語提供了新的思路，也是用英語傳播中國歷史文化的一次有益嘗試。
