句中的when speeding up相當于when it was speeding up，因主從句主語一致，故將從句主語和be同時省略；which引導的是非限制性定語從句，which代替的是主句our jet was swallowed by a thunderstorm；made us lose sight of the directions屬于“make+賓語 +賓補”結構，主動語態中作賓補的非謂語動詞要用省to的不定式形式，被動語態中要帶to。
