Safety must not be absent
——Discussion on the safety management of MICE business tourism from the shipwreck tragedy in Phuket Island
Introduction: On July 5, 2018, at about 17:45 p.m., two boats carrying 122 Chinese tourists on their way back to Phuket were caught in a severe storm and capsized on Coral Island and Meitong Island, respectively. The accidents claimed the lives of 47 Chinese tourists and caused irreparable regret.
Among them, apart from leisure visitors, there were also corporate business tourists. This accident undoubtedly sounded the alarm for the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, maritime bureaus, travel agencies and tourism practitioners. In the face of disasters, the cliche of how to protect the safety of the tour group once again is in sight. This issue will focus on the topic of "safety management in MICE tourism from the Phuket shipwreck accident", and re-discuss the security issue.
