The reflection on the glass fa?ades tells the story of the Longli people — a vernacular community that has experienced isolation and tension in southeast Quizhou, China. This installation memorialised the military invasion in Longli in Ming Dynasty 600 years ago. Located along the Longxi River — outside the old town of Longli — the project brings in a new regional landmark. The lower floor of the 2-storey viewing platform invites people to stay and rest, while the upper has a pyramidal inner space that provides a higher vantage point for viewers to take in the view of the town across the river. During the day, the daily lives of the Longli people are reflected onto the glass fa?ades. After dark, the shelter shows an utterly diあerent presence as that of daytime.
