On 20 July 1997, China Southern Airlines launched the B777-200ER non-stop service from Guangzhou to Los Angeles, successfully completing the ever fi rst twin-engine ETOPS transpacifi c commercial fl ight and initiating a brand new era in the world civil aviation industry. On 21 July 2017, China Southern Airlines held a special event to commemorate the 20th anniversary of this important historical moment, using its stateof-the-art B777-300ER to fl y its Guangzhou-Los Angeles CZ621, a fl ight themed as “Transpacifi c New Journey”, operated by the then crew representatives for the 1997-inaugural fl ight.

1997年7月20日，南航使用波音777-200ER客機從廣州直飛洛杉磯，實現(xiàn)了人類首次使用雙發(fā)飛機不經(jīng)?？缭教窖蟮纳虡I(yè)飛行，開創(chuàng)了世界民航的歷史先河。為了紀念這一歷史性的時刻，2017年7月21日，南航舉行“廿載飛躍 見證奇跡”活動，將新型波音777-300ER客機執(zhí)飛的廣州-洛杉磯CZ621航班命名為“越洋新征程”主題航班，并安排當年首航的乘務員再次執(zhí)飛。

In 1990s, China Southern Airlines, who was always pioneering in the Chinese aviation industry, decided to launch long-haul services to Europe and the USA aimed at building up an international-oriented carrier. The airline's decision-makers kept their eyes on the then most advanced longrange wide-body twin-engine passenger jet - Boeing 777-200ER. As the largest longrange wide-body twin-engine jet in the world at that time, Boeing 777 could satisfy the different and ever changing market demands. China Southern was the fi rst Chinese carrier to introduce the Boeing 777 and became the launch customer of its kind in mainland China. China Southern used its fi rst Boeing 777 on its fi rst twin-engine ETOPS transpacifi c operation, marking a new era in the Chinese aviation industry and unveiling its international reengineering process.

During the past 20 years, thanks to Boeing 777, China Southern has already established a comprehensive safe operation system to pave the way for becoming an international network-oriented airline. There were more than 300 pilots, over 1800 cabin attendants and more than 400 engineers grown up to be the back-bone manpower in the Boeing 777's operations. What's more, China Southern's management philosophy has leaped forward into a new era featured with largescale, international and network-oriented operations. Led by the Canton Route Strategy, China Southern has formed an extensive network centered with Europe and Australasia, with convenient connections to Southeast Asia, South Asia and East Asia, covering North America, Middle East and Africa. After 20 years' endeavor, China Southern has shown its pioneering advantages among the competitors. In recent years, China Southern's Canton Route Strategy coincides perfectly with the Chinese government's Belt and Road Initiative. In the key markets and regions, China Southern has been taking the lead in China in terms of routes, fl ight frequencies and the market shares.

1997年7月20日

南航777-200ER客機從廣州直飛洛杉磯，完成人類歷史上第一次雙發(fā)飛機不經(jīng)?？缭教窖蟮纳虡I(yè)飛行。

2000年2月14日

南航將兩架波音777飛機濕租給孟加拉國航空公司，開創(chuàng)中國航空公司對外濕租大型客機的先河；

2000年6月18日

南航波音777從所羅門群島戰(zhàn)亂之中，將116名僑民迎接回國，樹立了動用專機成功撤僑的先例；

2001年7月15日

南航波音777飛機完成北極航線驗證飛行，成為亞洲首家使用雙發(fā)飛機飛越北極的航空公司；

2004年5月18日

南航使用波音777飛機為廣州新白云國際機場成功試飛，此舉標志著我國首個按中樞理念設計的大型國際機場的成功運行

2005年1月29日

南航波音777飛機成功首航臺北，成為56年來從祖國大陸起飛并首家降落在臺灣地區(qū)的祖國大陸航空公司。

2014年8月6日

南航開通廣州——紐約直航，這是中國民航史上最長的一條航線。
