哈工程女大學生身上值得美國女大學生學習的女性獨立

【摘要】女大學生的獨立問題在當今社會和個人生活中都占據尤為重要的地位，中美文化差異在兩國女大學生獨立方面也得以明顯體現。從勤奮獨立學習和戀愛關系中的忠誠兩方面入手，解讀在哈工程女大學生身上值得美國女大學生學習的女性獨立。

【Abstract】The independence of female college students plays an important role in today's society and personal life， and the cultural differences between China and the United States are also reflected in the independence of female college students. Starting from the two aspects of industrious and independent learning and loyalty in a relationship， this paper tries to study the independence of Harbin Engineering University female students which is worthy of being learned by American female college students.

Industrious and independent learning takes up 87% of Harbin Engineering University womens spare time. 97% of Harbin Engineering University womens relationships last for more than a year. Independence is an essential part to both Harbin Engineering University women and American college women. American women are more independent in public awareness， however， comparing Harbin Engineering University and American college women，American college women can still learn from Harbin Engineering University women on industrious and independent learning and loyalty in a relationship.

Industrious and independent learning

To begin with， Harbin Engineering University women taking long time to study every day results in positive attitudes which can be learned by American college women. According to a survey on the recent situation， it is obvious to find that Harbin Engineering University women study for more than 9 hours every day on average. They spare no effort to make out almost each point of each subject. As we all know， the class time only has 100 minutes.Teachers are more likely to give as much knowledge as they can to make the class abundant， however， students need to spend more time taking in those new information. What's more， there is so much allure in college life that many college students cannot focus their energy and attention on study. In contrast， according to the survey it is clear to find that Harbin Engineering University women are capable of spending enough time in learning what they have gained from classes every day. Not only is it an excellent way to preview and review what they have learned but also it is a good way to train their attitudes. Moreover， Harbin Engineering University women have more positive attitudes towards challenges than American women. Challenges are not only part of life but also the essential process in growth. （Zhuang 22） Since Harbin Engineering University female students have received strict education， they need to complete various examinations from primary school to university. There is no doubt that they must have gained lots of failure in examinations for those years. As a consequence， they need to inspire themselves to be more optimistic and confident in order to overcome more challenges in the way of their growth. The positive attitude also can do Harbin Engineering University women a favor to be more independent in daily life. However， American female college students do not have examinations as many as Harbin Engineering University women do. This causes that when they face more trouble， they would better learn positive attitudes from Harbin Engineering University women to improve themselves in this area.

In addition， HEU women going to the library regularly after class leads to being more competitive in hunting jobs in big cities after their graduation. It is common to discover that there are always large amounts of female students entering the Harbin Engineering University college library. According to the survey， most of the Harbin Engineering University women go to the library 5 days a week in their spare time. There is no doubt that most of the college students no matter their ages want to relax after class. However， a successful future is based on industrious and independent learning. It is certain that Harbin Engineering University women have already realized this meaningful point. Therefore， going to the library has become an important part of their study life. Comparing with American students， Chinese students are more hardworking in study. （Zhao 121） When they form a habit of independent learning ， they can overcome any difficulty not only in study but also in daily life. Moreover， if college women learn knowledge industriously and independently， they can realize dreams easily. Wisdom comes from diligence， and knowledge comes from accumulation. If a person wants to have some achievements in work and study， developing a good habit of accumulating knowledge is essential. （Wei 87） Each college woman has a desire for a unique and substantial life not only at college but also after graduation. Industrious and independent learning is a proper method to help each college woman to achieve their goals. Besides， the independence of American college students begins only when they graduate from college. （Feng 64） Since the large population of China is concentrated on big cities， large amounts of students after graduation desire to hunt for a nice and stable job in more developed cities. Therefore， Harbin Engineering University women have developed a habit of living and working independently in order to get a proper status after graduation. College women can benefit a lot from industrious and independent learning. It can give college women confidence and capital in life. It is unreliable for women to have a good husband. In life， some elders always told women that women should not fight for career so hard because marrying a good man is the most practical choice. However， the reality is always on the back side because they think marrying to a perfect man means to buy a life-long insurance， and they start to rely on him.Finally， many naive women are abandoned by men，so if women want to have a happy love and marriage， they must first learn to be independent.endprint

When women have their own knowledge， skills and career， they can lay a solid foundation for their independent future. （Wei 71） It is obvious to find that industrious and independent learning can enrich female students' knowledge which they have learned industriously and independently at college can give them much help. When they have a superiority over their competitors， they can be more confident and have more faith to face everything. The independence of American college students begins only when they graduate from college. （Feng Page 64） Therefore， American college women can learn more in this area from Harbin Engineering University women.

Loyalty in a relationship

In public awareness， American women are considered to be more independent in a relationship than women in Harbin Engineering University. According to the result of the test to Harvard men， 97.8% of them think independent women are more attractive. （Yu 60） It has been deemed to be a good quality which Chinese women should learn from American women up to now. However， after research and investigation， the truth has been found that not all of the independence of American women is evaluated accurately since some parts are indeed harmful.

To start with， American college women often see relationships with an open mind and they start a relationship more casually than Harbin Engineering University women who treat it seriously and always make a serious decision to start after consulting with parents and friends. American college women can make a decision independently on whom she would like to date as long as they are of age and consequently they are less cautious to start a relationship. What they care most in a relationship is feeling and they can accommodate a lot if they have feelings for each other. （Yu Wanfangdata） However， according to the research， there are many factors for Harbin Engineering University women to consider before getting into a relationship. That is to say， Harbin Engineering University women do not start a relationship completely independently and they customarily count on the opinions of parents and friends. As a consequence， American college women are more likely to keep a short-lived love relationship since feelings change over time while Harbin Engineering University women are more likely to keep a lasting one owing to their cautious attitudes to start a relationship. Besides， according to the result of the questionnaires answered by one hundred Harbin Engineering University women， 89% Harbin Engineering University women indicate that they would never start a relationship only if they do love a man with a whole heart and the man is also proved to be reliable enough. If it does not meet these two points above， either or neither， they would rather to give up because they believe that the best relationship is worth to wait. American women are independent in a relationship and they are also easy to give up. （Yu 77） Being independent is not always a good quality since taking others suggestions for reference shows the attitude of being responsible to oneself in some cases. This is one part that American college women can learn from Harbin Engineering University women because the love model of American college women is more like a fast food-style love and they cannot settle down at all.

Additionally， American college women are independent even when they are in a relationship， however， Harbin Engineering University women depend more on their boyfriends when they are in a state of love. American college women believe in independence and that might be related to the cultural background. They have their tight schedules which are hardly changed for anyone including their boyfriends. As a result， they would like to do whatever they want as usual and that might bring their boyfriends less sense of being needed. However， Harbin Engineering University women present that they would like to rely on their partner when they are in love. For example， Harbin Engineering University women prefer to ask boyfriends about some advice before making decisions. Whats more， Harbin Engineering University women enjoy being taken care of by their boyfriends and it is interesting that their boyfriends would like to look after them， such as taking their handbags when shopping and discarding the food residue for them after meals. According to an investigation， males like to help females by fixing problems to show their manliness and women who show an expression of weakness before they can arouse the desire of protection. According to the result of questionnaires， 97% of Harbin Engineering University womens relationships last for more than a year and that due to both males and females who make some concessions to keep their relationships. Obviously， what women can do much more easily for the relationship is to give up independence moderately. This is also a part which American college women can learn from Harbin Engineering University women since the stereotype of a strong man with a weak woman is much easier for males to accept and can also keep the affection for a longer time.

Last but not least， American college women are more open about sex than Harbin Engineering University women. America is one of the earliest countries which advocates sex education in the global world. In the 1960s， America began to implement safe sex education rather than guidance of sex education. （Chen&Liu Wanfangdata） Although America proposed that successful sex education should base on the morality of the guidance later， American college women still hold a relatively open mind to sex， whereas Harbin Engineering University women are much more conservative in sex than American college women. 98% of Harbin Engineering University women indicate that they have not experienced sex up till now and 92% of them express that they want to be loyal to each other and future husband since they have grown up being educated to be cautious about sex before marriage. American women have been independent since they come of age so they can make decisions by themselves. However， women in China are always restricted by social environment and customs as well as their parents so they cannot be completely independent to do anything even at college. Occasionally there are some good points to be dependence. Owing to the dependence on parents and social environment and customs of Harbin Engineering University women， they are much more cautious about sex. Leaving aside the parts which are too much conservative for Harbin Engineering University women， it is indeed an aspect which American college women can learn from Harbin Engineering University women.

Conclusion

Despite that American women are more independent in public awareness， there are still some parts that American college women can learn from Harbin Engineering University women.The independence of female college students plays an increasing essential part in today's society and personal life， and the cultural differences between China and the United States are also reflected in the independence of both female college students.Through comparing Harbin Engineering University and American college women， Harbin Engineering University women do better in industrious and independent learning and loyalty in a relationship which can be learned by American college women.
