一般母親在就餐前問兒子想吃/喝點(diǎn)什么,用的是“What would you like to have/drink?”,這是比較婉轉(zhuǎn)、客氣的說法。類似的說法還有“What do you want to have/eat?”,但這樣的語(yǔ)氣會(huì)顯得較為生硬。
2) 告訴對(duì)方自己想吃/喝點(diǎn)什么,常用“I’d like to have/drink…”。
/No, thanks.”。
4) 服務(wù)員詢問客人是否想點(diǎn)菜時(shí),常說“May I take your order now?/Would you like to order now?”,意為“現(xiàn)在您想點(diǎn)菜了嗎?”。
1 What do you do?
— What do you do?
— I’m a car salesman.
分析▲“What do you do?”是“What do you do for a living?(你是靠什么來(lái)謀生的?)” 詢問職業(yè)時(shí),你也可以單刀直入問對(duì)方:“What’s your job?”。
2 That’s very kind of you.
— That’s very kind of you.
— Not at all.
分析▲“That’s very kind of you.”和“Thank you very much.” “That’s...”
1) That’s very nice of you.
2) That’s very kind of him.
1) Not at all.
2) It was nothing.
3) Any time.
3 My pleasure.
— Thank you so much.
— My pleasure.
分析▲“My pleasure.”是相當(dāng)正式的說法,你可以把它想成是“It has been my pleasure to help you.(能夠幫助你是我的榮幸。)”
1) “I’m glad to meet you.” “The pleasure is all mine.”“很高興認(rèn)識(shí)你。”
2) “Could you help me for a minute?”
4 Have a nice day!
— Bye, dad. Have a nice day at the offce!
— You have a nice day too, Billy.
分析▲ 與人道別時(shí),如果能跟對(duì)方說一句“Have a nice/good day.”,對(duì)方一定會(huì)很高興。對(duì)即將出門參加聚會(huì)的人,你可以對(duì)他說“Have a good time!”或“Have fun!”;而對(duì)那些要外出旅行的人,則可以對(duì)他們說“Have a wonderful/an enjoyable trip!”,這是一種相當(dāng)能表達(dá)善意的說法。
5 May I help you?
— May I help you?
— No, thank you. I’m just looking around.
1) No, thank you.
2) I think I can manage. Thank you anyway.
3) Thank you all the same.
6 Pardon me?
— Do you have the time?
— Pardon me?
— What time is it?
分析▲“Pardon me?”和“I beg your pardon?”,它們均與“Excuse me?”
對(duì)話中,“Do you have the time?”是“現(xiàn)在幾點(diǎn)”的意思;與此相似但意思完全不同的是“Do you have time?(你有空嗎?)”。同學(xué)們要區(qū)分清楚,如果有人問你“Do you have the time?”,你可千萬(wàn)別回答“Yes, I do./Of course I have.”,不然就要被人笑掉大牙了哦!
