Overall operation of the specialized market in 2016

Under the comprehensive effect of moderate expansion of aggregate demand and policies of supply-front reform， the domestic textile and apparel wholesale market maintained stable and turnover kept a steady growth momentum in 2016. The total turnover of 41 professional markets monitored by CATA （China Commercial Circulation Association of Textile and Apparel） reached 974.512 billion yuan， an increase of 5.5%， with 1.2 percentage points lower than GDP growth （6.7%） of the same period. Among them， 26 market turnover rose with average growth of 6.85% and 15 market turnover decreased with average declined of 6.54%.

Eastern turnover grew rapidly

For a regional structure， there were 33 pro- fessional markets with good overall operation. The Eastern turnover reached 857.157 billion yuan from January to December， 2016， a yearon-year increase of 6.08%； there were 4 professional markets with turnover of 49.992 billion yuan， rising by 1.92%； the turnover of the Western markets amounted to 67.363 billion yuan， a slight increase of 1.19%. （See Table-1）

production-based markets maintained a high growth rate

From the circulation level， there were 24 production-based markets and 17 sale-oriented markets in the 41 specialized markets. From January to December， 2016， the total market turnover of production-based markets kept a high growth. According to data， the total turnover reached to 865.641 billion yuan， an increased of 6.59%； while turnover of saleoriented markets registered to 108.871 billion yuan， a fall of 2.44%.

In the whole year of 2016， the total turnover of 9 specialized markets， with the representative of Keqiao China Textile Market and Changshu Clothing City， reached to 747.328 billion yuan， rising by 7.18%. The turnover of 33 single markets amounted to 227.174 billion yuan， a slight increase of 0.33%.

The situation of new professional markets in 2016

According to the statistics of CATA， there were 32 new markets specialized in textile clothing，decreasing by 8.57%； total investment was 57.52 billion yuan， an decrease of 8.38%； total construction area reached 10.1965 million square meters， down by 32.25%.

Among them， there were 5 new constructed markets， 2 more than 2015， with total investment of 18.8 billion yuan， a year-on-year in- crease of 133.54%， and construction area of 2.165 million square meters， a significant rise of 78.04%. The new opened markets were 27， 5 less than 2015， with total investment of 38.62 billion yuan， a decrease of 29.29%， and area of 8.0215 square meters， down by 41.96%. （See Table-2）

Increase layout of professional markets and enlarge radiation radius

From the regional structure， the proportion of investment and construction area of Eastern new textile and apparel professional markets ranked first in the whole nation. There were 18 new markets in Eastern area， accounting for 56.25%， whose investment reached 23.89 billion yuan， accounting for 41.54%， and construction area amounted to 4.428 million square meters， for 43.43% of the whole nation. （See Table-3 and Table-4）
