From 3-6 September, 2017, European Showcase for Brands of China Expo was held in National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, UK. It is in order to further promote the Chinese products brand and to further promote the development of bilateral economic and trade relations between the two countries that the Ministry of Commerce China began to held the expo each year in the UK during the Autumn Birmingham International Consumer Goods Fair from 2004. Among the VIP guests attending the Inauguration for European Showcase for Brands of China On 4th September were: Mr. Jin Xu, Minister Counsellor of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China in UK, Madam Ren Xiaofei, Director of Trade Development Bureau of Ministry of Commerce, Madam Zhang Huijuan, Chief Representative of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade in UK, Mr. Richard Hall, Head of Consumer Luxury, Department for International Trade, Mr. Stuart Johnston, Managing Director of Ascential Events Group, Ms. Henri Davis, Chairman of The Giftware Association.
In 2017, the exhibition made a new record in scale, including: the largest exhibition area, about 5,400 square meters. There were 300 booths with the largest number of booths and the largest number of exhibitors, namely 280 brand enterprises selected from 16 provinces and cities of China. The exhibits were the most abundant. The commodities covered household goods, furniture, household textiles, accessories, decorations, handicrafts, lighting, ceramics, glassware, plastic products, gifts and so on. Guangdong, Shanghai, Fujian, Zhejiang, Hebei, Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Gansu and other provinces and cities’ brand enterprises presented their new products debut, Gansu enterprises made debut appearance at this exhibition.

In addition, the exhibition also provided unique Chinese cultural experiences. Chinese national intangible cultural heritage of traditional culture and a number of enterprises participated in the exhibition, which provided the opportunity for British merchants to know the Chinese brand and experience Chinese traditional culture. During the exhibition, the organizer held business and procurement seminar in the exhibition area to help the British and European customers better understand how to purchase goods directly from China, and to answer related questions of cross-border purchasing procurement.
The exhibition received expanding media coverage. Every year, main stream Chinese and foreign media pay high attention to the Brands of China expo and give interviews and reports on the opening ceremony, the exhibition features and key enterprises, promoting the importance of foreign trade China achievements and the implementation of export brand strategy.
