Understanding China’s Future

Since its establishment in 1921， the Communist Party of China （CPC） has undergone an epic journey. On July 1， a high-profile gathering was held in Beijing to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the Partys founding. President Xi Jinping， who is also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee， addressed the event.

By the middle of this century， when the 100th anniversary of the Peoples Republic of China is reached in 2049， the objective is for China to have flourished into a rich， strong， democratic， culturally advanced and harmonious modern socialist country. The CPC will stick to the policy of reform and opening up and to the concept of peaceful development. Meanwhile， it will always try to remain progressive and incorruptible， improve its leadership， and strengthen its ability to negate risks and decay.

Some Western critics hold negative attitudes toward the CPC， even demonizing the Party at times during its 95-year existence. However， history and reality both prove that the CPC is the most qualified organization to lead the Chinese people forward.

Xis speech sent clear messages that the Party will continue to spearhead the nations drive for greater prosperity and more balanced progress on all fronts.
