With its protruding embroidered pattern, this 40mm-watch obviates the need for an index on the watch-face.

Embroidery, an old Chinese handicraft, has been employed for the making of this wristwatch. Technically diff i cult to make, the watch-face was hand-made by the embroidery artist, Master Zhao Hongyu, who is the successor of China's Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The internal design of this watch was inspired by the silver dollar of the Han Dynasty, whilst the index is presented in Chinese clerical script.

Recently, all eyes were on Catherine Zeta-Jones as she walked the red carpet in London at the world premiere of her latest fi lmDad's Army. In a blue gown and wearing classic diamond jewellery by Boucheron, she was every inch a fi lm and fashion icon. BEAUTlFUL FRENCH

The opening ceremony of the 21ème Fête de La Francophonie en Chine was held in Guangzhou in recent days. Organised jointly by the embassies of the States and governments, members and observers of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) and by numerous Chinese partners, the festival gathered more than 10,000 people around hundreds of events in all domains. This year during the festival from March 10th to the 30th, more than 3500 KTVs will feature 100 cult French songs for the fi rst time in China. And the Pivot Dictation game on WeChat will also allow people to discover new French expressions.

In 2016, the festival is turning towards Africa with the presence of the Congolese photographer Baudouin Mouanda who will introduce an exhibition on the S.A.P.E. movement. (The Society of Ambiance-Makers and Elegant People) and also the author Frédéric Ciriez on his book Mélo, about a story of a Chinese girl and a Congolese Sapeur. The Mauritanian director Abderrahmane Sissako, award winner at the César and the Cannes festival, will introduce his fi lm Timbuktu.

By now, the Francophone world population is estimated to be 300 million. According to statistics, there are over 10,000 French learners in Guangzhou from 30 higher education institutes, 9 middle schools and the Alliance Francaise China.

法語之美

第21屆中國法語活動節開幕式近日在廣州舉行。該項活動最初由法語國家及地區國際組織的成員國和觀察員國及地區駐華使館機構提議舉辦，現在已經有眾多中國合作方加入，每年都有數以萬計的人參與到數百項活動中。今年活動期間，法語卡拉OK將遍布在全國3500個KTV中，“畢佛聽寫”帶來法語拼寫和諺語的微信游戲。

本屆活動節主題更加重視非洲法語區文化的展現。剛果攝影師博杜安·莫安達以及在戛納電影節獲獎的毛里塔尼亞電影導演阿伯德拉馬納·希薩柯將分享他們的代表作《巴剛果的雅士》和《廷巴克圖》，法國著名作家弗里德里克·西里耶將帶來關于雅士和雅士人群的講座。

目前，法語國家的人口已經接近3億。據統計，在廣州有1萬余名法語學習者，他們來自30所高校、9所中學以及廣州法語聯盟。

TALLEST SKYSCRAPER

The second tallest skyscraper in the world - the Shanghai Tower, has been completed recently. With a height of 632 meters and 127 stairs, it is equipped with 3 express lifts which only take 55 seconds to transport visitors from the ground to the Observation Deck on the 199th fl oor.
