Hearthstone is a collectible card game that goes around turn-based matches between two players， operated through Blizzards Battle.net. Players start the game with basic cards， but can gain rarer and more powerful cards through buying packs of cards， or as pay for competing in the Arena. Players can also disenchant unwanted cards， destroying them in exchange for arcane dust， a resource which can be used to create new cards. Card packs and entry to the Arena can be bought with gold， the in-game money rewarded for completing randomized daily quests and winning matches， or by using real money in the in-game store.

《爐石傳說》是一個通過暴雪戰網操作，在兩個對手間圍繞回合制比賽的卡牌收集游戲。玩家用基礎卡開始游戲，但可以通過購買卡包或者在競技場競爭得來的獎勵獲得更罕見和強大的卡。玩家還可以分解多余的卡，摧毀它們來交換奧術之塵——一種可以用來創造新卡的資源。可用金幣來購買卡包及加入競技場，而這種游戲貨幣也可通過完成隨機日常任務或打贏比賽獎勵獲得，或者拿真實錢幣前往游戲商店購買。

Cards are the main substance of Hearthstone， representing the abilities， characters and effects which each player is able to make use of during the match. There are 535 collectible cards in the game now， with more planned to be added in the future through additional expansion packs and adventure mode. The first adventure mode， Curse of Naxxramas， added 30 cards. The first expansion， Goblins vs Gnomes （GvG）， added 123 cards.

In normal game modes， the player begins to fight using a deck of 30 cards，made from cards in the players collection. Each deck can only feature two of each card， and only one of each legendary card. Legendary cards are the rarest cards in Hearthstone and are based on special characters that played an important role within the World of Warcraft. When summoned， Legendary cards will play a special animation or sound. Arena play has no such limitations， but requires players to play using a new deck chosen from a series of randomly provided selections. For either type of deck， the construction of a players deck is a key strategic element in the game.
