Kodaline是一支來自愛爾蘭的搖滾樂隊。2007年3月，這支樂隊的首支單曲《Give Me a Minute》在愛爾蘭單曲榜成功登頂，創造了新的記錄——此前從未有獨立發行的單曲在該榜成功登頂。2012年9月，Kodaline發行了他們的首張迷你專輯《The Kodaline -EP》。該EP（extended play）中收錄的歌曲《All I Want》大受好評，成為美劇《實習醫生格蕾》第九季的插曲，同時更成為了《2012年度谷歌時代精神》（Google Zeitgeist 2012）短片的背景音樂。2013年6月，Kodaline發行了第一張專輯《In a Perfect World》，并于2015年2月推出第二張專輯《Coming up for Air》，《The One》正是出自該專輯。

《The One》是樂隊主唱Steve Garrigan為一位朋友的婚禮而作，他在婚禮前一天才完成創作，第二天便在婚禮上演唱了這首溫暖的歌曲。樂隊原本并沒有打算公開發表這首歌，但因歌曲在YouTube上頗受歡迎便被收錄在《Coming up for Air》專輯中。
