TCEB has put its fiscal year 2013-2014 (October – December 2013) Q1 performance in perspective, telling of steady growth in numbers of MICE Travelers and revenue. In the wake of political unrest, TCEB launched special promotions to re-establish confidence among clients and recover the overall industry. The MICE industry is expected to generate approximately 96,900 million Baht this year where exhibition contribute 2,503 million Baht for the first quarter.
In Q1 of fiscal year 2013-2014, Thailand welcomed a total of 186864 MICE travelers, up by 5.16% from the previous year. They generate 16,033 million baht in revenue, up by 6.16%. The top ten countries where MICE travelers came from were China(38,036), Malaysia (13,103), Singapore(11,741), India (9,519), The Philippines(6,688), Australia (6,303), South Korea(4,859), the United States (4,447), Japan (4,043), and Hong Kong (3,692). China still ranks the number one market with 177% growth compared to the same period of the previous year.
Breaking the MICE industry down into sectors, the exhibitions attracted 31,303 business travelers to Thailand. According to market research in Q1/2014, the exhibitions sector was able to penetrate the high-valued market and achieved its targets for growing the numbers of MICE travelers and revenue.
Despite the political unrest in Thailand, the overall situation remained steady. Nevertheless, TCEB realizes the challenges presented by the volatile situation. In response, it launched special promotion package to boost MICE business and recover confident among MICE travelers from all over the world. The promotion offer to Exhibition related business is “Business Up 2 You” which offers particular organizers support for organizing an exhibition. Supports differ depending on the past performances and achievements of particular organizers. This is to ensure that the organizers have the potential to organize effective exhibitions in Thailand. Additionally, there is buyer appreciation program– Be My Guest – to support the accommodation for potential buyers around the globe to attend trade shows in Thailand. This is particularly designed for Trade show organizers organizing shows in Thailand.
On the other hands, we also offer promotion and campaign targeting visitorship named Connect Businesses Campaign. This is newly launched group visitor’s campaign is with an objective to incentivize business-oriented leads to attend and do the business matching at international trade shows in Thailand.
