Tian Chengyi has experienced too much suffering. He was fond of painting from an early age but could not access to good resources for study because of his family’s objection. However, he never gave up his hobby and always studied and practiced by himself. In 1966, the great cultural revolution began, during which Tian’s family was broken up and all the relatives draw a clear distinction from him. He suffered the most tough period in his lifetime. It was all the difficulties he experienced that tempered and steeled him. He created lots of excellent artworks that attracted fanciers from all over the world.

田成義是荒原上一蓬兀自生長的野草,野火催生,萬物滋潤,瘋蠻成長。
田成義不和田家安分守己的家風(fēng),自幼癡迷繪畫。田成義的父親是個(gè)山區(qū)鐵路小站上的工人,這樣的人家,是養(yǎng)不起“搞藝術(shù)”的孩子的。父親希望兒子能學(xué)一門養(yǎng)活自己的手藝。田成義執(zhí)迷不悟鬼迷心竅就是要畫畫。家里連畫畫的紙也沒有,田成義就把父親用過的廢舊貨運(yùn)單收集起來,在背面畫畫。上學(xué)后,田成義對畫畫越發(fā)癡迷,父親怕他荒廢學(xué)業(yè),用強(qiáng)力禁止他畫畫。田成義就等家人熟睡后,悄悄溜到灶間,點(diǎn)著煤油燈趴在鍋臺(tái)上畫,藝術(shù)的魔力攫走了田成義的靈魂。
初中畢業(yè)后,田成義懂事了,他不想再讓父親為自己操心,違心地考上了一所林業(yè)中專。由于癡迷繪畫,他中途退學(xué),自學(xué)繪畫。參加工作后,文化大革命開始了,田成義遭遇到他人生中最為黑暗的歲月。父親因偽滿時(shí)期參加工作,被打成歷史反革命,最后竟被活活批斗死。田成義大聲為父親喊冤叫屈,竟被打成現(xiàn)行反革命抓起來批斗,幾近談婚論嫁的對象立即和他劃清了界限。后來,田成義又被押送到“五七”干校勞動(dòng)改造。這期間,他種過地、放過牛、打過石頭、掏過廁所,嘗盡人間炎涼。

歷史坍塌之際,個(gè)人的精神凸顯出來。田成義利用這段時(shí)間臨摹自然萬物,繼續(xù)偷偷畫畫。在那個(gè)黑白顛倒的瘋狂時(shí)代,田成義堅(jiān)持師法自然,修煉心性。藝術(shù)的成長和感悟人生的深度是成正比的,改造期間,田成義的藝術(shù)感悟力和繪畫水平竟然有了長足的長進(jìn)。……
