Wang Jieshan is a worshiper of nature who loves life very much and emphasizes the importance of observation and experience. He has devoted himself to the sketching from nature for more than 30 years to realize the spirit of nature and the essence of life. He combined the western techniques with Chinese traditional skills, making his paintings vivid and modern, which not only remained national features of traditional Chinese paintings but also achieved stronger expressive force. He has founded his own artistic languages and built modern forms of Chinese landscape paintings under his remorseless exploring.

“獨與天地精神相往來”是老子的一句名言,我以為是中國山水畫的哲思玄理所在。所謂往來就是有來有往,自然就不是單向的傳遞。也就是說,中國的山水不是作為一個被動的客體出現在人們的面前,可以和人平等地交流;同樣道理,人也可以與自然平等交流。“望秋云神飛揚,臨春風思浩蕩”,王界山的山水畫正是他與天地精神相往來、進行交流對話的結果。

王界山是大自然的崇拜者,他熱愛生活,熱愛祖國的萬里江山,鐘情于山川林海、煙云水瀑、古跡村落、田園故道,尤其對家鄉的山山水水有著難以割舍的鄉情鄉戀。為了尋求天地精神,他的足跡踏遍了長城內外、大江南北,他強調對生活的深入觀察與體驗,主張“回歸自然,法由我變”。他要憑借多年積累的傳統功力、造型基礎、西畫技巧,得江山之助、假自然之象進行種種的探索,寫造化之變幻,抒心源之靈妙,傳江河大地之神韻。他以眾多對景寫生、對景創作的作品,無言地闡述著自己的藝術觀和審美取向,那就是以出入古人筆墨為基礎,以造化自然和現實生活為參照,試圖在重新解讀傳統、復歸自然的過程中,獲得傳統山水畫的再創與新生。為此,他曾30年如一日地深入大自然中畫寫生、畫速寫,去體味天地精神的生命律動與本質規律,去探尋為自然“寫真”的造型和筆墨語言的融合,把包括關注形、光、色在內的西畫創作技巧,有機地融入傳統的筆墨中,使畫面豐厚而富有生活氣息和現代感,目的是為寫意的中國畫在保持民族特色的同時,獲得更強的表現力。……
