Two Mutes

He was a mute. Although he could understand what others said， he couldnt express his own feelings. She was his neighbor， a girl who depended on her grandmother for life. She always called him elder brother.

He really looked like an elder brother， leading her to go to school， accompanying her， and listening to her with a smile on his face.

He could only communicate with her by gestures， but she could understand each look in his eyes. From his gaze， she knew how deeply he loved her.

Later， she entered the college and was very happy. Then he started to go out to make money， and sent the money to her continuously. She had never rejected.

Finally， she graduated and started to work. Then， she told him firmly， “Elder brother， I will marry you！” But he escaped from her just like a frightened rabbit， he refused to see her no matter how she begged him.

“Do you think I pity you？ Do you think I appreciate you？ No， Ive fallen in love with you since I was 12.” However， she could not get his reply.

One day， she suddenly was ill and had to stay in hospital. He had scared and ran to take care of her. The doctor said that there was a lump in her throat and in order to remove it， it damaged her cords. As a result， she couldnt speak any more. She stared at him full of tears on the hospitals bed. Then， they got married.

They couldnt say any word for many years. They communicated with each other by hand， pen and eye， sharing happiness and sorrow. They became the couple who made other lovers envy. How happy a mute couple they were！

Love couldnt prevent the death. He passed away and left her alone.

People came to see her and comforted her. But at that time， she suddenly said， “He finally departs from me！”

他是個啞巴，雖然能聽懂別人講的話，卻表達不出自己的感受；她是他的鄰居，一個和外婆相依為命的女孩，她一直喊他哥哥。

他真像個哥哥，帶她上學，伴她玩耍，微笑地聽她講話。

雖然他只能用手勢和她交談，但是她能讀懂他的每一個眼神。從哥哥凝視她的目光里，她知道他有多么喜歡自己。

后來，她終于考上了大學，非常開心；他便開始出去拼命掙錢，然后源源不斷地寄給她。她從來沒有拒絕。

終于，她畢業了，參加了工作。然后，她堅定地對他說：“哥哥，我要嫁給你！”但他像只受驚的兔子逃掉了，再也不肯見她，無論她怎樣哀求。

她這樣說：“你以為是我同情你嗎？想感激你嗎？不是，我12歲我就愛上你了。”可是，她得不到他的回答。

有一天，她突然生病住進了醫院。他嚇壞了，跑去看她。醫生說，她喉嚨里長了一個瘤，雖然切除了，卻破壞了聲帶，可能再也講不了話了。病床上，她淚眼婆娑地注視著他。于是，他們結婚了。

很多年，沒有人聽他們講過一句話。他們用手，用筆，用眼神交談，分享彼此的喜悅和悲傷。他們成了相戀男女羨慕的對象。人們說，那一對多么幸福的啞巴夫妻啊！

愛情阻擋不了死神的降臨，他撇下她一個人先走了。

人們怕她經受不住失去愛侶的打擊來安慰她，這時，她突然開口說：“他還是走了。”
