It must have been around nine oclock when I drove back home from work. Because it was already dark. As I came near to the gate I turned off the headlamps of the car so as to prevent the light from swinging（晃動）in through the window and waking Jack, who shared the house with me. The way he spoke reminded me of someone in pain who is afraid to talk in case he does himself a serious injury.

“Take your shoes off, Neville,” Jack said.

I thought that he must be ill and that I had better humour（遷就）him to make him happy. “Theres a snake here,” he explained. “Its asleep between the sheets. I was lying on my back reading when I saw it. I knew that moving was out of the question. I couldnt have moved even if Id wanted to.” I realized that he was serious. “I was relying on you to call a doctor as soon as you came home.” Jack went on. “It hasnt bitten me yet but I darent do anything to upset it. It might wake up. Im sick of this.” he said. “I took it for granted that you would have come home an hour ago.”

There was no time to argue or apologize for being late. I looked at him as encouragingly as I could and went out to telephone the doctor.

A student went to college after passing all his examinations. There he put his name down for world geography. But after the first day, he did not go to class any more. The teacher noticed this student was always absent（缺課）and thought that he had changed to another class. He was very surprised when he saw the boys name on the list of students who wanted to take the geography examination at the end of the year.

The teacher had prepared a difficult examination paper, which covered everything he had taught, and he was eager to see how this student answered the questions. He expected that his answers would be very bad. But when he examined his paper carefully, he found only one small mistake in it. As this surprised him very much, he went through the paper twice, but was still not able to find more than one mistake, so he sent for the student to question him about his work.

He loves creating environment for his students that is more relaxed than the one he used to study in. He thinks that an actor should relax themselves when he was performing.
