谷歌眼鏡：未來就在眼前？

如果要評2012年的“年度科技新潮流”，目前還在研發階段的谷歌眼鏡一定是最大贏家。這款在年中展示了開發版、明年才在美國本土發售、預計后年才會正式推出并普及的高智能眼鏡讓“技術宅”熱血沸騰，其他人則擔心它可能令虛擬與現實之間的界限進一步模糊——在技術日新月異的今天，科幻真的不是夢！

Audie Cornish (Host): Like flying cars and time travel， eye glasses with computing power have long been sci-fi fantasy， relegated to[使降低地位] Terminator movies and the like. Google Goggles注 would put smartphone capabilities—GPS maps， weather， time， web streaming and more—inches from your eyeball.

Steve Henn (Reporter): For a long time， people have thought that glasses would be the next big thing， the next technology platform. I mean， you’ve heard of three screens， right? Your…your PC， your smartphone and your TV. This really could be the fourth.

Cornish: There’s…some of the examples I saw as you’re walking down the street and you look at a restaurant with these glasses on and， like， information about that restaurant， like， pop up out of the corner of your eye， literally[按字面意思].

Henn: Yeah， exactly， and a couple of years ago， there was a famous app[應用] for the iPhone where you could hold up the iPhone and look at the stars in the heavens[天空] and then click on them and find out more information about them. Basically， that’s the idea， but for everything. And instead of having to hold up your phone， it would be built into the glasses.

Cornish: So the sci-fi nerd[呆子] in me is so excited about this， but the， like， you know， privacy activist[積極分子] is horrified. Given what we’re feeling about all these software developers and their privacy policies， isn’t there a real danger with this kind of invention?

Henn: I mean， for these glasses to work， they all have to have cameras built into them. You know， the facial recognition technology already exists. That allows folks to snap[給拍照] your picture and ID you off your Facebook page. So there’s the potential that all of this， sort of， what we used to think of as…almost high-tech spy fantasy is in every…everyone’s hands. Cornish: Steve， if these glasses were to one day become mainstream， it could have a…a profound[深遠的] effect on how we view the world， literally.

Henn: Well， I think， short term， we might all walk around wearing these glasses kind of acting like idiots， you know， just reading things that aren’t there， playing games with virtual[虛擬的] monsters that no one else can see. But I think…I think people are right that in the long term the effect could be profound. You’re…you’re talking about a technology that could make all human know-ledge about the world accessible[可接近的] as…as you walk through it. So it’s conceivable[可想象的] that you look at an object， or a plant， or a person and you have the computing resources to find out the stories about that person or that place. I think it could profoundly change the way we live.
