Chapter 3
Mary and Marion went into the ice-cream house and found a library with 10 big bookshelves* in it.
“Wow, Mary, what a nice house! There are so many books!” Marion cried* happily. Then she took a book out from the first bookshelf. The book’s name was The History of Wishing Island. Marion was interested in* the book. She turned(翻) to Page 1295...
The wishing bottle was made by King Solomon(所羅門國王) in 949 AD(公元). It was used(使用) to hold devils(魔鬼). When the devils are dead(死的), the bottle can pull in the person(人) who opens it. If the person on the island wants to be out again, the chief(首領(lǐng)) in the bottle must break(破譯) this code(密碼):

這個許愿瓶由所羅門國王于公元949年制造,原先用于裝魔鬼。當魔鬼死后,瓶子會將打開它的人吸進里面。如果島上的人想從瓶子里出去,那么這個瓶子里的首領(lǐng)必須破解這個密碼:F_ _ _ E_ _ _ _ _ _i_g B_ _ _el_。
“What does it mean(意思是)?” Marion said to herself.
Suddenly(突然), the floor of the ice-cream house was shaking* furiously(猛烈地). “What’s happening, Mary?” shouted(呼喊) Marion.
They ran out of the house and saw that a boy’s foot was on the wishing bottle. “Soo!” The naughty* boy kicked* the bottle into the sea. The sea outside(在……外面) the wishing bottle went wild(狂暴的). The bottle was bouncing around(顛簸著) on the sea. Everything* in it was shaking.

Marion said to Mary, “We must call Dolly and tell her about the Great Triton(海神), king of the sea. Remember(記得)? We heard the story from Mum, and maybe(也許) it is true*!”
Marion blew into the seashell. Dolly appeared(出現(xiàn)). “Oh Dolly,” said Marion, “We need* you. Years ago, Mother told us a story about the Great Triton. He has great power(力量). Now the sea is angry. We must talk to him and get him to stop the storm(風暴).”

They went to a cave(洞穴) and saw a beautiful witch. “Hi, girls! I’m Alana.” The witch said with a nice voice*, “I also come from* the outside world. I am good at* chemistry(化學), so I’m a witch here.”
“I’m the daughter of the chief,” Dolly said.
“We are here to ask you about the Great Triton,” said Marion.

Alana poked(戳) a hole* in another(另一個的) daffodil with a knife. “Face(面對) to the hole and say everything you want to say to the Great Triton. Then listen to the daffodil carefully*,” Alana said seriously(認真地).
“Great Triton, please stop the storm. This is Mary,” said Mary faithfully(忠誠地).

Dolly thanked Alana and went out of the cave with Mary and Marion. The storm stopped. Hundreds of* people came out of their houses. They were happy.
“Wow, there are so many people on the island!” Mary and Marion were surprised(驚訝的).
Dolly’s father Robert and her mother Salina threw a big party* to celebrate(慶祝) the coming back(恢復) of peace(平靜). Everyone on the island had a good time*.
