談“天”——ＤＡＹ

1．day 可指24小時(shí)的整天，也可單指白天，與night 相對(duì)。如：

There are 365 (or 366) days in a year. 一年有365（或366）天。（指一整天）

Day has now broken. 天已亮了。（指白天）

“在白天”要說in the day， 介詞用in， day前要用the，與at night相對(duì)。注意night前常不用the。如：

It’s too hot in the day and too cold at night. 白天太熱，夜間太冷。

2．day可表示“星期幾”。如：

What day is today? 今天星期幾？

要注意，表達(dá)“幾月幾日”，即“日期”時(shí)，不能用day，而要用date。如：

—What is the date today? 今天幾號(hào)？

—It’s May 5. 今天5月5號(hào)。

3.day的復(fù)數(shù)形式常指“時(shí)代、時(shí)期”。

in one’s school days在學(xué)生時(shí)代

one’s days 一生；全盛時(shí)期，如：

Everybody has his days.

人人都有得意的日子。

4．構(gòu)成短語。

1）one day與 some day

one day“有一天、某一天、總有一天”，指過去或?qū)?。如?/p>

One day， he asked an artist to draw him a beautiful horse.

一天，他讓一個(gè)畫家給他畫一匹非常漂亮的馬。

We have lost 100 times， but one day we shall win.

我們已失敗了一百次，但總有一天我們會(huì)贏。

some day “有一天、改日”，只能指將來，不能指過去。如：

We will meet again some day.（可以替換成one day）

總有一天我們會(huì)再見面的。

2） in those days “在那些日子里”，介詞in不能省略；而 these days“現(xiàn)在、如今”，可看做是副詞性詞組，前面一般不加介詞。前者常和過去時(shí)態(tài)連用，后者常和一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)連用，不用于現(xiàn)在完成時(shí)。如：

In those days trains ran very slowly.

在那些日子里，火車跑得很慢。

I rarely see her these days.

如今我很少見到她。

3）the day before yesterday“前天”，用在過去時(shí)態(tài)中；the day after tomorrow“后天”，用在將來時(shí)態(tài)中。二者都是副詞性短語，前面不加限定詞。如：

He’ll leave for New York the day after tomorrow.

他后天要?jiǎng)由砣ゼ~約。

They arrived here the day before yesterday.

他們前天到了這里。

4）all day and all night“整日整夜”，也可以說 all the day and all the night， 前者較自然、普通，多用于美國口語。如：

The clock has no feet or legs， but it can go all day and all night.

鐘表沒有腳和腿，但它卻能日夜行走。

比較：day and night 日日夜夜

He coughed day and night.

他日夜咳嗽。

5）every other day“每隔一天”，用于一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)或一般過去時(shí)。如：

He goes home every other day.

他每隔一天回家一次。
