Mr. Amaradasa Gunawardena, the president of the Sri Lanka China Society presented the first copy of the book Peoples China to President Mahinda Rajapakshe of Sri Lanka on Oct. 2, 2008 in the Presidential Residence “Temple Trees”. Ambassador Ye Dabo of the Peoples Republic of China to Sri Lanka, Guthila Wickramasinghe, secretary of the Society, Wilmon Wickramasinghe and Jinith de Silva, co-editors of the book were present on the occasion.

The Sinhala book was published by the Sri Lanka China Society to educate the Sri Lankan school children on Chinese history, culture, economy and various places of interest.

This book was published with the assistance of the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka and the Ministryof Education. A numberof eminent writers have contributed invaluable articles to make it a very interesting book. This book will be distributed free of charge among schools.
