We arrived in Beichuan Countyearly May 14, three days af-ter the earthquake had struckSichuan. Temporary rescuemeasures could be seen everywhere, andthe crumpled building that had been QushanPrimary School was now a twisted mass ofwood and steel. The county was one of theworst hit areas. Roads to the county, blockedby severe landslides, had yet to be cleared,so large rescue machinery were unable to getthrough.
