在丹尼爾到達盲校的第一天，一位小伙子將他帶進了盲校分配給他的房間。小伙子非常耐心詳細地對丹尼爾說：“現在，我將你的皮箱放在了房間里左邊的這個角落，在這個角落的旁邊，是你的衣柜；第一個抽屜可以放你的領帶，第二個抽屜放你的襯衣。房間的右邊是你的床。在床的前面六步遠的地方就是房門，出房門一步就是樓梯，樓梯一共有13級臺階。”

小伙子交代完畢，拍了拍丹尼爾的肩膀，說：“好了，你先休息吧，我走了。”
