The CPAFFC,the Chinese-African People’s Friendship Association and the Embassy of the Republic of Cape Verde jointly held a reception on April 25th to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries. Present were Xu Jialu, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Chen Haosu, president of the CPAFFC, Mario Matos, vice president of the National Assembly of Cape Verde, Julio Cesar Freire de Morais, Capeverdean ambassador to China, other diplomats of the Embassy and their wives, and friendly personages of the two countries. President Chen Haosu and Vice President Mario Matos made speeches.
Chen Haosu said, 30 years ago China and Cape Verde established diplomatic relations, turning a new page of the annals of the friendly relationship. Since then the friendly contacts between the two peoples have never been interrupted. The Chinese people cherish their friendship with the people of Cape Verde. We wish to increase people-to-people friendly contacts, and together with the Capeverdean people, to seize the opportunities, face the challenges and work for a better future for both countries.
At the reception, artists of Cape Verde exhibited their paintings with unique national characteristics and performed national dances and songs.
