Beijing, June 14, 2005 --United Airlines (OTCBB:UALAQ.OB) announced that ithas flown 3,888,888 passengersfrom China to the U.S. In 1986,United became the first U.S. air-line to launch a non-stop servicebetween China and the U.S. Cur-rently, United provides the mostfrequencies of non-stop flightsbetween the two countries, withfour daily flights, includingBeijing San Francisco, BeijingChicago, Shanghai San Fran-cisco and Shanghai Chicago. Thenumber 3,888,888 further dem-onstrates United's commitmentto China market and appreciation fromits customers.
According to United's ticketingrecords, Jiang Zonghui, who boarded theUA888 flight that took off today at noon,is United's 3,888,888th passenger fromChina to the U.S. To celebrate this his-toric moment, United held a special cer-emony at the boarding gate in the BeijingCapital International Airport this morn-ing. Mr. Sidney Kwok, United's GeneralManager of P.R. China, awarded a cer-tificate and a Mileage Plus Premier cardto the lucky passenger, containing388,888 bonus miles. These awardedmiles can be used to redeem three firstclass or four business class or sixeconomy class China-U.S. roundtrip tick-ets, or several tickets between two desti-nations served by United and its Star Al-liance partners. United also presentedgifts to other passengers taking this flightto thank all of them for their trust inUnited. Senior officials from the BeijingCapital International Airport Companyand the Ground Handling Department ofAir China also participated in the event.
At the celebration ceremony, Mr.Sidney Kwok, United's General Managerof P.R. China, said: \"Today is a specialday for two reasons. Firstly, we have theopportunity to meet the 3,888,888th pas-senger who is flyingUnited from Chinato the U.S. Sec-ondly, we are cel-ebrating the first an-niversary of Unitedflight UA888 flightfrom Beijing to SanFrancisco. Sincelaunching the firstChina-U.S. route in1986, United hasbeen committed tobuilding a bridgebetween China andU.S., promoting bilateral trade and tour-ism, and providing the best and mostconvenient services for customers trav-eling between the two countries.\"
According to statistics provided bythe Office of Travel and Tourism Indus-tries of the U.S., about 4.6 million Chi-nese citizens traveled to the U.S. between1986 and 2004. A large number of pas-sengers chose to fly United. United isvery proud to be able to bring China andthe U.S. closer together. As the two coun-tries are in the process of opening up theirtourism markets and liberalizing relatedpolicies, the travelers to the U.S. will in-crease year by year. To better meet cus-tomers' demands, United also took thelead in launching the Shanghai-Chicagoflight after China and the U.S. govern-ment signed the aviation right agreementlast November, in addition to the Beijing-San Francisco non-stop flight. AndUnited upgraded its Boeing 777 aircraftto Boeing 747 aircraft on its Beijing-Chi-cago route. At present, United flies morethan 2000 customers between China andthe U.S. every day.
