本刊是主要反映航空、民航、航天科學技術及其理論基礎成果的綜合性學術刊物，創刊于1982年，其讀者對象主要是航空、民航、航天、機械、電子、電氣等領域的科技工作者、理工科院校師生和相應的管理干部。本刊是我國創刊最早的高校英文學報，其稿件為直接英文稿，大多數為學術水平較高，具有國際交流的論文，與中文學報不重復，它是我國科技論文統計用期刊，并被國外多家檢索機構收錄。
